Saxophone Lessons in The Hague and Rijswijk
Hello, my name is Josie McClure.
I am a performing saxophonist and teacher based in The Hague/Rijswijk. I have a huge passion for the saxophone that began when I was ten years old! I want to share my love for the saxophone with those who are equally fascinated with this wonderful instrument. Although I do specialise in classical saxophone, I love working on cross-over projects and have experience playing in a wide variety of styles. I enjoy teaching both beginner and experienced saxophonists.
What can you expect from lessons?
I base the lessons on the student’s goals and wishes for their saxophone journey. I believe in a well-rounded approach incorporating technique, sound production, sight-reading and theory. For me, it is very important for students to become well-rounded musicians. And of course – We can work on your favourite music from the beginning! All ages and levels are welcome!
I provide the lesson material for each lesson.
Beginners
Beginner lessons will focus on reading sheet music, your favourite tunes, rhythm, etudes, scales, basic music theory and having a well-rounded knowledge of sound production and technical aspects of the instrument.

Intermediate to Advanced
Advanced lessons are cultivated according to the needs of the student. Extended techniques, etudes, working through the standard repertoire, technical exercises, breathing techniques, articulation, music theory, and more…
Trial Lesson
You are welcome to request a trial lesson – this is the best way to get an idea of my teaching style as well as discussing your goals and wishes. You can come to my studio in Rijswijk for a trial lesson, or I can come to you (The Hague).

I have a studio in Rijswijk where I teach – send me a message to arrange a lesson. Depending on my availability, I can also come to your home (The Hague area).

You can rent instruments from various music shops in the Netherlands.
In order to have your first lesson, you need a saxophone. To begin I advise to begin on the alto saxophone. Don’t have a saxophone: I will help you to source one.
